Emory/CHOA Neonatology Presentations at the Virtual PAS 2021 Meeting
You will find a list of PAS presentations by my colleagues and I in the Division of Neonatology at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Glad to see the diversity and breath of research interests among our group.
Variation in Neonatal Transfusion Practice (NHLBI REDS-IV-P study)
If you viewed our platform presentation titled, "Variation in Neonatal Transfusion Practice," and want more details, you can read more by clicking here.
Learn more about the NHLBI REDS-IV-P program, which is beginning a multiyear study on transfusion in preterm infants (TIPI study): https://redsivp.com.
And make sure to join our platform presentation on May 4,2021 (details below):

Feeding, Probiotics and Intestinal Oxygenation
Here is our e-poster titled, "Enteral Feeding, Probiotic Supplementation, and Intestinal Oxygenation Responses to Red Blood Cell Transfusion in Preterm Infants"

If you want more details about the background and rationale for this study, check out this presentation to the NIRS Consortium: https://youtu.be/r50zHDh8HvA
Donor Sex, Age and Outcomes in Very Low Birth Weight Infants
Here is our e-poster titled, "Association of Blood Donor Sex and Age with Outcomes in Transfused Very Low Birth Weight Infants."
I fondly recall a conversation with Jack Widness about the need for donor-recipient linked cohort studies in neonatal transfusion. This is something we highlighted as part of a proposed research agenda for neonatal transfusion medicine several years ago (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5026588/).
This study on the impact of the donors of blood that is transfused into preterm infants tries to address some of these knowledge gaps:
